Hydropower Potential
Overall Hydropower potential in Indonesia is 75 GW, with still only around 9% (Source: Dirjen EBTKE, 2014) that has been developed. The abundance of potential water source should be utilized as an environmentally friendly approach towards energy generation. There are still many untapped rivers in Indonesia with suitable conditions (such as topographical, geographical) and pristine nature, perfect for long lasting hydropower plant.
Government are pushing and increasingly in favor in terms of regulation and development of power generation from renewable energy. The price is considerable higher than the conventional power plant such as coal fired diesel, and natural gas, with PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) can last up to 20 years (extendable) and guaranteed purchase by the government. Due to limited funding, the Government is also increasingly opening up the industry to private sectors to own and develop power plant in Indonesia.
Promising prospect in the Industry drives many Investors to take part in the business. This motivates Energi Aceh Sejahtera to work promptly in searching for hydropower potentials generated from rivers’ current and existing irrigation system. The importance of acquiring such potentials must starts from various approaches with related authorities and regulators in order to obtain permits and utilization over those resources. Accompanied with highly experienced team and expertise, Energi Aceh Sejahtera is ready/eager to take on the challenge in acquiring these potentials.
